Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 10/8/10 re: P. J. O'Rourke quote I guess jim k prays for a return to the era of the robber baron. He's not even aware of how the plight of the least fortunate in the US has changed since the time of the Great Depression. How typical for the hate & fear filled to wish for a return to a time that never existed in the form they dream about in their delusions. Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 10/8/10 re: Sigmund Freud quote And it is the GOP who sell us fear each and every day, for they consistantly turn their backs upon all forms of responsibility! http://www.keepfearalive.com/ Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 10/8/10 re: G. Gordon Liddy quote The GOP (no, they are not conservatives!) feels that they can and should build empires upon the backs of slaves whom they owe no debt of any kind to... Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 10/4/10 re: Will Rogers quote LOL, J ignores that there is a significant probability that the stimulus will actually result in a direct profit for the people, to say nothing of the indirect benefit of avoiding a second "great depression". Government can act for good (as in the case of TARP) or bad (as in the policies that lead to the need for TARP). Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 9/30/10 re: Thomas Jefferson quote This quote seems to ignore the existence of win/win scenarios, buying into a negative view of the price for all actions. jim k, you are completely out of contact with reality and buying into the inventions and lies of a radical fringe that would oppose anything and everything that a black president says and does. The Obamas have not been on "frequent" or "expensive vacations at our expense". For instance, Michelle's recent trip to Spain was paid for by herself. Check your facts before sharing the lies. Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 9/29/10 re: Bruce Montague quote You misinterpret that 70% number... two thirds of those not happy with the law think that it simply did not go far enough by not bringing us "Medicare for all"... and many of those two thirds think that "a step forward" (such as this law) is better than the regressive anti-humane treatment that the radical right propose (basically: profit for industry, death for the sick). 2Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 9/28/10 re: Doctor Who quote anon anon is right... sounds just like all of the GOP leadership... 14Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 9/27/10 re: Robert A. Heinlein quote I don't want weapons of mass destruction... I don't want torture... I don't want warrantless wiretapping... I do want every citizen who wants it to have health care and education and a roof and food! 4Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 9/23/10 re: Walter Trohan quote It is neither well known nor a fact, either now or in 1970. 1Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 9/14/10 re: Lysander Spooner quote Waffler has nail Mike's pattern for sure (make explicit by Mike in his posting here even). But that does not change the value of this quote. 1Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 7/22/10 re: Richard Armey quote So out of touch with reality, he appears to think that folks pay taxes of 100% of their income for the first 5 months of the year... in reality the rate is level across the entire year... such blatant misrepresentations show him for what he is: deceitful! Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 7/22/10 re: Richard Armey quote The GOP claims that "people" means "individuals" not the "group", so, he's advocating for each individual to decide what we as a group shall spend rather than having the group decide what the group shall spend... still crazy after all these years! 2Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 7/7/10 re: Benjamin Franklin quote Torture is the perfect example. Health care has nothing to do with this quote, and is in no way comparable to the illegal immoral torture America has engaged in all in the name of liberty and security. Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 6/21/10 re: Bertrand Russell quote Great insight from seeing and integrating the obvious pieces of data into a single piece of information. It is facinating how those who did not like this quote about knowledge argue against it based upon their beliefs... 1 Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 6/17/10 re: Georg Cantor quote Finally, jim k has self identified... 1Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 6/14/10 re: Pledge of Allegiance quote We are not "one nation". "God" is an invention of a subset of the people. We do not provide either "liberty" or "justice" "for all". 4 Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 6/3/10 re: Albert Einstein quote However, also be ready & willing to accept the consequences of your actions! 2 Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 5/20/10 re: A. J. Liebling quote Grand observation, horrible truth... leave it to UT to house pro-killing (tool) and anti-thought (expression)... is it too late to uninvite them from the union? Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 5/19/10 re: Senator Sam Ervin quote We do not live in the mid-18th century. The constitution only has meaning as it applies to our lives today. 1Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 5/18/10 re: L. Neil Smith quote jim k has clearly taken drugs of some form to be so clearly hallucinating... "A well regulated Militia" is not lawlessly handing heavy weaponry out to every street thug who wants to kill kill kill... get a grip people, learn to read and (gasp) think... Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 5/12/10 re: H. L. Mencken quote Ah they long for the wonderful days of surfdom... Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 5/11/10 re: M. Stanton Evans quote An inappropriate generalization which is often incorrect in specific cases and indeed may never be correct even as those who turn were likely never "our people" in the first place. 16Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 4/22/10 re: Thomas Jefferson quote Apparently J is consuming the wrong media sources... perhaps Fox & friends are not covering the story, but others continue to do so. Maggie is way off base, there are a significant number (even a majority) that are indeed serving their duties well. Yes, there have been failures (e.g. post-9/11 & the Iraq invasion justifications by W), but over all most are doing their jobs well. Some of the worse educated people I know come out of private schools where they learn about "the one true God" but not how to think... Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 4/16/10 re: C. S. Lewis quote Sounds just like what King George W & Jester Dick said (and still are saying)... and jim k has it wrong, "the people" have indeed demanded better health care for many decades, and until Obama DC had a deaf ear!
