And if you check, you'll find nothing has changed. Lincoln offered the Cotton States the opportunity to keep their slaves if only they would rejoin the Union...so much for integrity from Honest Abe. Not to mention that Lincoln only promised emancipation for slaves of the south...he mentioned nothing about northern slaves. And you should do some homework on how the south ended up firing the first shot at Fort Sumpter. They were pushed into doing so by a Lincoln ordered act of aggression, just so he could say they fired first...and if you look, you'll find that nothing has changed with that policy either. In the end...the bankers win everytime, they still do. 2 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 8/20/09 re: Max Victor Belz quote Lets not forget that a government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take it away. (Not sure who said that) Reply J Carlton, Calgary 8/20/09 re: James Buchanan quote Waff, you make a good point, you really do. But I still understand Lincoln's motives and they had nothing to do with abolishing slavery. That doesn't stop the schools from teaching that the Civil War was about emancipation though. And this example really only helps demonstrate the folly of believing in state education. 1 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 8/20/09 re: James Buchanan quote Waff, I base my observation on what is moral. That leaves no room for compromise. None. And Lincoln is never part of any moral equation. The man was a bought and paid for Banker's pawn. 3 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 8/20/09 re: Max Victor Belz quote I'm amazed when people say they'll never give up their guns to the state...but they will give the state the minds of their children. Great quote, and if you have no choice but to put your kids in state schools, be sure to debrief and correct them every day. 1 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 8/20/09 re: James Buchanan quote A Presidential "excuse". What is right, is always right...how can it not be practicable? 1 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 8/19/09 re: Ivan Illich quote "right wing nuts about education..." Code for "Real Americans" who are tired of a corrupt system eh Waff? Now they're (DHS) calling war veterans and anyone who owns a gun a "right wing nut". Oh well, whoever has the most guns wins. You however, could maybe explain how your Love of Liberal Arts produces anything...anything at all of tangible practical value. I'm all for art too...but do it on your own time, we need productive people in a productive society. Private schools and family values are what America needs now. Not Liberals who want to pick your pockets. Reply J Carlton, Calgary 8/17/09 re: Pat Paulsen quote They probably think its pretty funny that there are now road checkpoints within the US, ostensibly to look for illegal aliens....what a lark! You're papers pleez! 3 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 8/14/09 re: Ronald Reagan quote Umm Steven...like the communist in the quote, you've read the quote but don't understand what you've read. Ronnie is suggesting that people who read and do understand Lenin and Marx...will be "against" it. 1 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 8/14/09 re: Jack Hugh quote So Waff, we should ignore the socialist indoctrination of state schools? No one has property? The government is the final authority so you don't need to listen to Mom and Dad? Everyone has a right to some of what you've worked for? No one is a loser? No one is a winner? If the kids can't pass the tests we just lower the standards? Give me a break. They're dumbing kids down to the point where they can't even spell "pencil", let alone use one. 22Reply J Carlton, Calgary 8/14/09 re: Antonio Gramsci quote Good Point Waff...And apparently the lessons of the CHURCH have found their way into government policy. Control control control... Reply J Carlton, Calgary 8/14/09 re: Aesop quote RBE, How about we have the government back off of health care by about 500 miles. How about letting the free market dictate pricing and access? Any time government gets involved in "anything" it gets worse and the best example going is health care. Canada is on the right track? I live here and here's a thought for you...everyone who can gets out of the line up and goes to Europe or Asia or America for their health care because we have people dying while waiting for simple treatments. That's what socialized "anything" does...it fails. Reply J Carlton, Calgary 8/14/09 re: Theodore Roosevelt quote Excellent observation Ray. 5 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 8/14/09 re: Barry Goldwater quote Waffler, are you delusional enough to actually believe that our governemnt actually gives a Flying Rat's A** about the people? let alone represents them? Wake up bud! The government represents the Corporations and Bankers that bought them. Their job is to "control" the people, not represent them. Its more than a "little weird" its criminal! 2 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 8/14/09 re: Jack Hugh quote Which is why I spend a lot of time with my kids. I ask them what they are being taught and when I see socialism I teach them the difference. And just for fun I give them questions to ask the teacher in front of the other students. 51Reply J Carlton, Calgary 8/14/09 re: Antonio Gramsci quote Socialism is a cancer on society...it eventually kills its host. 3 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 8/14/09 re: John Taylor Gatto quote I was asked to speak at a Libertarian convention in 08. The first thing I said was, "We're all born Libertarians and we stay that way until the age of five. Then it takes 12 years of state education to beat it out of us." There was a great reaction with a lot of laughter...because its just Too True! 2 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 8/13/09 re: W. H. Auden quote It isn't just history. The politicians of today are criminal to the point of treason. 51Reply J Carlton, Calgary 8/13/09 re: Ronald Reagan quote The quote stands very well all by itself. It is exactly correct. The reading of Marx and Lenin is meant to be an indoctrination and it works on simple people. Once you understand that, you will oppose it as a free thinking individual. And I get a real kick out of those who criticize capitalism. They might as well be talking about the weather on Mars...because we've never seen it. All we have ever known is fascism. The only true capitalists we've ever seen are the government and their buddies. And that is true in both democracies and communist countries. And that's why I'm a Libertarian. The alternatives make me sick. 4 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 8/12/09 re: Barry Goldwater quote "People united (government)" = Communism. No Thanks. 7 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 8/11/09 re: Barry Goldwater quote You think the government should maintain caves? Oh my God! How completely indoctrinated and unthinking that truly is.
