Our rights and responsibility's end where the next persons begin. And the mutual respect required, (combined with laws of "justice") in a relationship of this nature cannot help but bring society to its most eloquent and prosperous form. Or maybe the Hillary's, Gore's and Bush's of the world really do know what's best for each and every one of us. No rights and no freedom.... 4 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 6/2/08 re: Carl Schurz quote "Collective Rights" is an oxymoron. If rights do not apply to all "Individuals" then they are not rights at all. In a society which is just and adheres to liberty for all we'd all have those rights. What happened to the (great) American experiment? I think I know... I think all those laws of control were passed while we were at the mall. Maybe it will come back when people become angry enough... 6 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 5/31/08 re: e. e. cummings quote Best of luck trying to be "yourself". If you don't think we've become a police state...try stepping off the prescribed path by one foot and see what happens. For example try taking yourself off of the electrical grid and supplying your own power...good luck with that one.. And because there is the ever present threat of violence from your own government, you will "comply".... Free Nation? Yeah, uh huh...sure. 2 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 5/31/08 re: C. S. Lewis quote What he is saying is that formal indoctrinist schooling has its obstacles in people who actually care. It's a very valid point, and we need to keep up the battle against what has become an education system based more on communist than free values. I don't care at all what his religious, political or cultural beliefs are. He's hit the nail right on the head. 4 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 5/29/08 re: Royce Van Norman quote Its a charade, but its no game. 31Reply J Carlton, Calgary 5/27/08 re: Cat Farmer quote People who want to tell others what to do under the guise of good intentions are usually people of small character who need to feel important. People who's lives are otherwise meaningless and unproductive. Better to be a nuisance than to go unnoticed I guess... 1 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 5/27/08 re: Albert Edward Wiggin quote Absolutely right. Its the "Hillary's" of the world that want us all to think this is necessary because people are so dumb and we need all of these socialist programs. Well if I'm not the dumb one...and your not the dumb one...maybe most everyone else is actually in "our" category. And the Hillary's are full of @*#! and its better to keep us ignorant of that fact. Its all about CONTROL. 2 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 5/26/08 re: John Taylor Gatto quote I like this quote. It reminds me of a question...Why would people who absolutely will not give their guns to the government (a good thing) give the kids to them 6 hours a day for "training"? I think of that every time I see a school bus. Reply J Carlton, Calgary 5/26/08 re: John Taylor Gatto quote Our kids are still being taught that Global warming is "man made". The wheels have already fallen off of that wagon and we know now that its merely a ruse for more control and more taxation....Our kids know it now too. Which is not to say we can keep treating the planet carelessly...but Kyoto is absolute 100% Bulls@*t. And that is all too easily proven. You bet the schools are front line propoganda tools. And you can bet your last fiat dollar on it too. 2 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 5/23/08 re: Horace Mann quote Sacred cause? Holy Sh*t! Sacred to whom? These people are unbelieveable. 4 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 5/23/08 re: Ellwood P. Cubberley quote State sponsored public schools are by design meant to create people loyal and obedient to the state, they always have been. Its one of the methods the state uses to maintain credibility and assert control. Fortunately though, the state has pretty much shot itself in the foot lately by conducting economically ruinous wars and usurping people's liberties. This is causing people to take a closer look. And they don't like what they are seeing. I think that's great. Remember: The system depends on you not asking too many questions. 2 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 5/23/08 re: John Swett quote We're actually teaching our kids that the moral authority is with the parents and the "system" is corrupt. And that works just fine. 1 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 5/22/08 re: John Dewey quote The quote speaks (badly) for itself. But to help define fascism.... 1.A government whose powers are unrestrained. 2.A leader who is a dictator, absolute in power but responsible to the party which is a preferred elite. 3.An economic system in which production and distribution are carried on by private owners but in accordance with plans made by the state directly or under its immediate supervision. 4.These plans involve control of all the instruments of production and distribution through great government bureaus which have the power to make regulations or directives with the force of law. 5.They involve also the comprehensive integration of government and private finances, under which investment is directed and regimented by the government, so that while ownership is private and production is carried on by private owners there is a type of socialization of investment, of the financial aspects of production. By this means the state, which by law and by regulation can exercise a powerful control over industry, can enormously expand and complete that control by assuming the role of banker and partner. 6.They involve also the device of creating streams of purchasing power by federal government borrowing and spending as a permanent institution. 7.As a necessary consequence of all this, militarism becomes an inevitable part of the system since it provides the easiest means of draining great numbers annually from the labor market and of creating a tremendous industry for the production of arms for defense, which industry is supported wholly by government borrowing and spending. 8.Imperialism becomes an essential element of such a system where that is possible — particularly in the strong states, since the whole fascist system, despite its promises of abundance, necessitates great financial and personal sacrifices, which people cannot be induced to make in the interest of the ordinary objectives of civil life and which they will submit to only when they are presented with some national crusade or adventure on the heroic model touching deeply the springs of chauvinistic pride, interest, and feeling. Where these elements are found, there is fascism, by whatever name the system is called. 1 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 5/22/08 re: Albert Shanker quote The system was openly callous then...and its still callous. Its just nicely dressed up now and has better PR. Reply J Carlton, Calgary 5/22/08 re: John Dewey quote This kind of thinking has evolved into what we have today. Children are are not being taught "how" to think, but "what" to think. 7 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 5/21/08 re: William Jenner quote Abolish the UN. Bring back "American" thinking. Screw the NWO. 41Reply J Carlton, Calgary 5/20/08 re: John D. Rockefeller, Sr. quote Seriously evil bastard with a God complex. 32Reply J Carlton, Calgary 5/19/08 re: Vladimir Ilyich Lenin quote We're all Libertarians until we are 5. It takes twelve years of education to beat it out of us. 1 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 5/19/08 re: Karl Marx quote The Canadian Bar Association is saying now that parents have responsibilities, but not rights (as parents). Children have rights and the government is now the de facto parent. Over my dead body that is... 8 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 5/19/08 re: Josef Stalin quote I've just returned from a "Freedom Fair" where we had speakers on everything from Public Schooling to Global Warming... A former School Board Trustee there said that the policy in schools here now is to "move away" from parental involvement and prepare students for a new future. That's really very ominous when you think about it. 3 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 5/16/08 re: Leonardo da Vinci quote Arguing by referring to authority is done by indoctrinated Loyalists as opposed to thinking Patriots. 4 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 5/15/08 re: Benjamin Disraeli quote Fair enough Waffler, you may be quite right. But of course you're not suggesting that schools are teaching kids about personal responsibility and individual liberty are you? Because we both know they aren't. They're breeding "loyalists" who can't imagine life without government control. Hmmm, maybe the Hitler Youth comparison wasn't so far off... 4 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 5/15/08 re: John Adams quote Our 14 y/o boy says that they don't "teach" us how to think. They tell us what to think and ask us to regurgitate it for the tests....bright boy!. He learns a few things at home though. :) Its a strong argument for home schooling as we can expect that a "state" education is designed to produce little "loyalists", and not free thinkers or free men. Reply J Carlton, Calgary 5/14/08 re: Democratic Party Platform of 1996 quote Unbelievable. I could just throw up on my boots. 6 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 5/14/08 re: Benjamin Disraeli quote This thought was not lost on Hitler. Ergo: Kindergarten and the Hitler Youth. Today kids aren't being taught "patriotism" so much as they are being taught of the "Global Village". AKA: A world enslaved... Previous 25 Next 25 SaveOk2 Share on Facebook Tweet Email Print
