If people are given credit enough to buy "shiny things" they won't notice that they have no rights. In fact they are debt slaves. Taxation, Interest Rates, Inflation and Fiat currency are all tools of control and debt. The dollar is supposed to be legal tender and redeemable for something of value...like cheap crap from China.

The difference comes with the word "Constitutional" Republic. Democracy is two wolves and a lamb deciding what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well armed lamb contesting the vote. A Democracy is still the rule of the strongest interests and does not guarantee anyone's rights.
