Liberty is destroyed by socialism, as our government forbids more and more acts of adults.

Only chains can keep you down. Government chains take the form of ever increasing taxes and rules (alleged laws), keeping you too busy to realize you are down. Throw off your chains, get up, walk, and enjoy your restored freedom!

I've considered Roosevelt to be a socialist, but I'd better look again.

Socialism takes your freedom from you. The church tries forcing you to see things only their way, also taking your freedom. Both show you ONLY what they want you to see.

Century of the state? In other word people do not matter, they have no rights. More BS.

So I may work hard, while you get the fruits of my labor? BS ... total BS. Yet this is what welfare is in the US. I work, and I'm expected to pay someone who doesn't bother to work, or pay to education illegal immigrants? More BS. Face it ... socialism and communism is all BS.

The state gives you your duties. When you are unable or unwilling to perform to their expectations, they may do whatever they want to you, including torturing you to death. Human rights absurd? No, socialist is absurd and immoral.

The federal government is too far removed from the issues that affect you to correctly choose for you. They say "trust me to run your life", but freedom would be trusting you to run your life. Trusting you gives them less power over you.

"Injured" is key. Many lawsuits are not about injury, but simple greed.

Dumber than its members, that's US government in action.

If every individual has true liberty, the group will have true liberty. The opposite cannot be said. Capitalism allows business to find its own balance. Socialism tells people and business what the balance will be. Capitalism = good, socialism and communism = bad ... in terms of freedom.

Yes. Individual freedom is more important that "the greater good" (socialism and communism).

Our government has sold its soul at the expense of the people they claim to protect.

This sounds funny coming from Canada. Canada has also become less free.

This has certainly changed. Our legislators don't care about Constitutional checks.

They will also think THEY know what is best for us. I don't trust them with running my life.

I'd like to bite some legislators, but I wouldn't want to get rabies. hahaha

One of my goals is to build an understanding in my daughter of the liberties we still retain and, more importantly, those we have lost.

Unfortunately, new laws crop up daily to coerce us into conformity, reducing our freedom.

Uglier still is welfare. It keeps the miserable creatures (those unwilling to fight for anything) down. END welfare. The least it will do is lower our taxes. The best it will do is give people responsibility for themselves.

Bring our soldiers home, from Iraq, Afghanistan, and around the world. If other countries want freedom, let THEM pay for it with their blood, not ours. I hate congress using the people's money for wars that are none of our business.

Yes, the U.S. may. But most of what Congress does in the name of liberty is unconstitutional and against liberty. How many of our children will die to pay the price to give Iraq liberty? How many of our rights will be taken to make us free? How many countries will we anger to show we can crush whatever we don't like? It doesn't matter to our government if they trample anyone or anything that gets in the way of increasing their power.
