Reply RobertSRQ 12/13/07 re: Herman Hesse quote Wisdom is not something you teach - wisdom is the soul of the heart and can only be understood by its owner. A wise man never aswers a students question of why or what instead you are given a task. Roosevelt quote Just a silver spoon will do 2 Reply RobertSRQ 12/6/07 re: Benjamin Disraeli quote Enlightenment is the key - that should be the focus of education - to know what BD means in the word education you need to know his thoughts on education and I'm afraid we are far from that. An 11th grader today could not take the same exam of 50 years ago - yes, we are falling backwards - at least our nose will not be bent out of shape... 2 Reply RobertSRQ 12/6/07 re: Benjamin Disraeli quote Indeed! And we are currently experiencing the results... we have dropped down to 30th re: science and there is a brain drain - we are obsessed with results to the point there is no content. 2 Reply RobertSRQ 12/4/07 re: Oscar Wilde quote Ron, there is more death and destruction, cruelty, torture, evil, hate, and the list goes on. You have the nerve to quote from a book that has caused untold misery. The harm that religion has caused throughout the world is so evil that one thinks this must be his world and that God and the devil are synonymous. Look into the mirror and see the hate you have for your fellow human beings ■ there is more ethics and kindness in Bertrand Russell than any religious figure with the exception of Mother Teresa and even she had doubts towards the end. 2 Reply RobertSRQ 12/4/07 re: Oscar Wilde quote Warren, I’m afraid your criticism is without truth or honor, and as Oscar would say “Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit”. Oscar Wilde was an incredible artist in a world full of bigotry and self-righteousness, his works were brilliant. His talent was abnormal, exceptional, and much the delight of the Victoria parlors. His other plays are some of the most produced, such as The Importance of Being Earnest and Lady Windermere’s Fan. His poems, critical dialogues, and many other works will be enjoyed throughout eternity. Oscar was Gay and a darn good one too. And the last thing he did was to shirk responsibility as his prison sentence would attest too. - he was offered safe passage to Paris and refused. Lastly, in his preface of The Picture of Dorian Gray “Those who find ugly meanings in beautiful things are corrupt without being charming . This is a fault. Those who find beautiful meanings in beautiful things are cultivated. For these there is hope. They are the elect to whom beautiful things means only beauty” Have a nice day, Robert P.s. He was cynical to the point of brilliance. I deal with Socialism on another occasion 1 Reply RobertSRQ 12/3/07 re: Peter McWilliams quote Reston - well done! the process for choice should be made clear to the people. Eduction also has the responsibility of explaining choices. Reply RobertSRQ 12/3/07 re: Norman Dorsen quote Liberalism is that no more no less from our forefathers to our present day Liberals - thank god for them - keep you head high Liberals for without you we would quickly slip into oblivion 1 Reply RobertSRQ 11/30/07 re: Eric Schaub quote No. There's no Aim about it, they are... Carlin definitely hits the nail on the dream Reply RobertSRQ 11/29/07 re: Al McGuire quote How prophetic 1 Reply RobertSRQ 11/29/07 re: Johann Wolfgang von Goethe quote That's exactly what makes them SO IGNORANT… Never before in the history of the USA have we suffered under the hands of so much ignorance. The dumbing of America is in full swing and the public are as much to blame as our administration. The public is apathetic and are comfortable as long as they not effected directly. We should be in the streets demanding impeachment and the trial of those who have committed war crimes. He that is the aggressor shall suffer the consequence of his own ignorance. Reply RobertSRQ 11/27/07 re: Dr. Sidney Simon quote I do not know this gentleman’s writings but the questionable quote is questionable - Public or private is immaterial what is material is what is being educated. The Oxford Union debated last night the Jewish Holocaust - from the most private to the most public stupidity meets in the middle. 3 Reply RobertSRQ 11/21/07 re: Thomas Babington Macaulay quote Catch 22 - excellent!
