Stealth is the key not tom dick and harry having a 9mm

How about modern quotes on the subject - these are not in context anymore

RobertSRQ

don't worry Waffler you are not the sick one...

There's a big difference between an Uzi and pitch forks.

Dan, I should I know I lived in the heart of gangland in the UK and I assure you most did not carry guns. People are allowed to have guns in the UK but the process is regulated. By the way Archer, the facts are correct regarding burglars not other deaths - sorry I should have made that clear. And Mike, the government doesn't violate you (except this one) you violate yourself its really that simple and until we see this truth we will continue to be on the dark side.

It is wrong to think that people should be disarmed it is right to think that people disarm.

You guys will never move to far from the cave - legislation could do more for self defense than any gun control. And if we can defend ourselves with a knife or boiling water then why don't we - the reason is simple guns give us anonymity. Great men and women have always chosen the path of non-violence - in the words of Mahatma Gandhi "Non-violent resistance implies the very opposite of weakness. Defiance combined with non-retaliatory acceptance of repression from one's opponents is active, not passive. It requires strength, and there is nothing automatic or intuitive about the resoluteness required for using non-violent methods in political struggle and the quest for Truth." 1936. Non-violence starts with the people not the police or governments. Until we the people can confront this need to carry guns wars will continue for it is in the heart that wars are fought and when we conquer that war governments will follow. It's not a matter of punishment it's a matter of enlightenment, compassion and love. And, until we live by these simple but courageous examples neighbors and nations will continue to kill and be killed. By the way, I would a million times rather have an intelligent fornicator than a mass murderer ■ what priorities you must have■. O, yes, I'm sorry, you prefer bullies. Lastly by MLK "Nonviolence is absolute commitment to the way of love. Love is not emotional bash; it is not empty sentimentalism. It is the active outpouring of one's whole being into the being of another."

Henry, thanks for the correction...

So, perhaps we should draw the line at machine guns and smart-bombs. The way in which the gun lobby and individuals use civil rights the the constitution is a joke - when they want the constitution changed or deny others their civil rights its another matter - grow-up America. Oops, sorry, there is one of you up there. E, I didn't know you had such gun crazy blog.

RobertSRQ

So you have a burglar who is breaking into your house and you are going to rush to get you gun - more deaths are caused by people's own guns than the deaths of burglars. So you want your hand gun to protect your small community/town from the most technically equipped army in the world. The reason why UK police do not carry guns is because the public don’t. wow what a novel idea…

RobertSRQ

Archer, you are conspicuous by your absence - have a great day

RobertSRQ

Obviously, there are those that only feel safe with a gun - so sad WELL DONE WAFFLER AND STEVEN, don’t be dissuaded by these gun touting bloggers – words have always been the best weapon against violence. As I have always stated; the reason why only good get shot is because the good don’t shoot the bad. I give it to BC in the face of the NRA and our obsession with guns he had the balls to say that.

Archer, good, but I disagree with the quote - Plato and Aristotle had different opinions too on this subject. I am firm believer that compassion is the ladder on which all others virtues are based - without compassion courage has no direction. Courage can be a foolish friend or a life saver where compassion remains thoughtful of others.

RobertSRQ

Excellent quote and an obvious observation. This is why we must be for ever vigilant of those who wish to exploit the vagaries and apathy of its slaves. We must maintain that flame and courage that brought about our freedom. We must be active continually if we are to retain the hopes and freedoms we fought so hard to achieve. The Bushites of this world are always there eroding inch by inch our freedom - wanting us to be slaves and for ever beholden to the system. I just hope we have enough Connor's out there to keep us safe from these megalomaniacs. As Benjamin Franklin said "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

RobertSRQ

Well that puts us in deep dodo... though I would add compassion to that list

RobertSRQ

We are all slaves under the yoke of debt. Debt is our God - no debt, no credit. By the way, old man Bush's father sold weapons to Hitler - we are as corrupt as any third world country - we are just good about covering it up.

RobertSRQ

Kids are already isolated from the rest of the world, and this would really set them apart. They now suffer more mental and health problems than ever before - this would just be the death Knell.

RobertSRQ

Look guys, private systems and public systems each have their own merits - I should know, I suffered both. What is wrong in public schools is the move away from teaching and learning to passing tests what ever the cost. The problem also is the leadership and the product of we are using – education needs reform and until then we will continue to lag behind other nations. Discipline is from within and it’s this simple philosophy which should be encouraged and cultivated - warmth and affection are dangerous tools in the wrong hands.

RobertSRQ

Archer, I agree. Talk not of those you know not and for what reason they doeth. Talk not of courageous souls whose shoes you have not trodden. Talk not of treachery on those fair souls of dissent. Our churches are full of sycophants, so are our corridors of power. Our boys and girls who fight our wars are brave and courageous – their sweat and pain along the road to victory or defeat is heartfelt. Their supreme sacrifice is not to be diminished in any way – they are indeed on a chess-board whose moves are made by unscrupulous individuals – it is so sad they fight wars for unprincipled and unethical politicians and greedy corporate executives. Waffler, If you really are patriotic and love our troops you should join us in our quest to bring them home - this is not their war.

It goes on every day and we do nothing - here is another example of socializing our losses while we privatize our profits: Government to bail out Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac - and who owns the most bonds to the tune of 325 billion? THE CHINESE OF COURSE... It's amazing, when the banking institutions cry bleeding hearts the fed comes to their rescue but, when the individual cries for help they are thrown a meager bone called stimulus check. Perhaps like they are indicting the Sudanese government for crimes against humanity we could do the same here. We have in America today Politicians and CEO’s committing crimes without any recourse – when will enough be enough????????????

RobertSRQ

Obviously the Judge didn't realize there's a lot of uncivilized politicians in Washigton – there should be a means test for politicians who take on high offices, including the President.

RobertSRQ

Apathy is rampant and it will be the death of the constitution - we must rise up and leave the words in the desk.

RobertSRQ

Wow! What foresight! Well said Archer. Ron, I think California and Vermont would agree whole heartedly with you dumping them, also New England, Massachusetts and New York - I can tell you now there would be a mass exodus to those states if that were to happen. Carlton, yes, we are divided as a nation as never before and I hope this time, unless we are brought together naturally, our partition will be peaceful. It’s the mentality of Ron, Jim, and alike that is the reason for this terrible division. The Political Parties have raped this nation along with the Fed and corporate America; as Carlton pointed out, the political and economic disparity is growing and unless CHANGE can occur I see it getting worse. Archer, yes, it may be we are close to saying ENOUGH is enough. If we are to survive as ONE nation we must stop our shift to the dark side – though some say it’s to late we are already there. I never really understand why there is so much hatred within our own borders perhaps this is the reason why we are constantly at war – we need to vent our anger. Why are we so different? Are not our desires the same? Are we not wanting harmony in our life, peace, happiness, liberty, freedom? Are these not the same qualities for all Americans? If so, why so bitter? Aren’t we all striving for these same things – is the difference the road we take to achieve the same result. Or, are we really different and need to be separated? Fortunately, we are all originally from another country as we managed to kill off most of the indigenous population (perhaps the karma is still there), so there is no need to fight internal battles which go back centuries. The Civil War was different and I blame Lincoln for not allowing the South to secede. These words of hatred so easily fall from our lips – we should be reminded of Einstein’s famous words: “A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.” Until we become friends and are able to detach ourselves from our own agenda’s dialogue will be impossible and without dialogue there is only one other option. Once a month I make it a point to lunch separately with two friends, one is a Christian (I’m an atheist) and the other a far right Republican (I’m a flaming Liberal) – they have both become close friends and funnily enough we agree on many topics, but that is not why we meet – Members of that Fed club don’t want us to meet they want us divided – they know that once we share our feelings and knowledge that their game will be up. Sorry for rambling its been one of those mornings.
