I could have put it more delicately and said the Fed led the American People in doing these things. It has been a pretty good Fed when we really pause to think about it.

Waffler, Smith

The Feds did manage to go to the moon, invent the atomic bomb, build the Panama Canal, win WWI, and WWII, save the world from Hitler etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. Friedman is a jerk for being so shallow.

Mike is for freedom right up to the point that 51% of the people say that we are going to do something a certain way. Then he will be agaisnt freedom and insist that the 51% do it his way. The majority under the thumb of the minority is not freedom and it is slavery.

The planning of the UN came out of the failure of the Republican US Congress to ratify and join The League of Nations. This failure led to the Second World War. German and Japanese desire for world empire was no more evil than was British, French, and American far flung territories in the 20th Century. Roosevelt and others recoginized that colonialism had to end and at the end of WWII the Phillipines, Indonesia, later India all were given independence and self-government. This was a big step towards freedom from foreign domination for much of the worlds people. The United Nations was and is a an important institution in forming this new world order out of the destruction of old world order that led up to WWII. This guy is all wet and thus gets a thumbs down!

Obviously this guy and Jim above never heard of the United Nations war against North Korea. The UN command included US, Turks, Thais, Brits, and South Koreans. United Nations troops including many from India have performed useful services around the world. It is just right wing types that have no reason for existence unless they are attacking something or other who choose to make a perennial whipping boy of the UN.

Sadly most often the injustice deemed to be the greater one is the one that is inlicted on you and yours. Thus we destroy the earth rather than practicing sound earth friendly practices. The mantra "think globally act locally" comes to mind and is a good one for learning to treat the earth justly and to not think of self only.

And it continues today, all of our money is going to the Chineese and they are buying our bonds. We should stop buying their junk that we don't need and give our money to Uncle Sam in taxes so he can pay off the bonds.

How prophetic H.G. was. You guys prove his point by your very existence and malcontentedness. Remember that I have told you before that their has always been a new world order. There was the Babylonian World Order. The Alexandrian World Order, The Roman World Order etcetera. There is nothing new about new world orders. Rest assured that a world order exists and has existed since time began. The fact that it constanly changes means that it is always new. Some guys just cannot handle NEW. Get a life, learn and keep up.

Now Mussoline should have said it like this and you guys would have loved. So the Italians were starting to get to much freedom and Mussolini tried to put a stop to it and that was bad you guys say. Now you are all for getting rid of to much freedom. Sounds like you talk out of both sides. Greek society was and is the cradle of civilization, Rome and rest of us are just copy cats.

Anonymous you got it right. Freedom is not anathema to order and discipline, except the order and discipline come from within the individual, this is what self-government is. Beware of those who claim to be "We The People" and in their claim will deny that presidents, congressman, senators, governors, mayors and their friends and neighbors who have different opinions than they are therefore "Not We The People". These self-proclaimed we the people guys are the ones we should watch out for embracing dictatorial styles.

So how much more wrong could Old Joe have been? So why are you guys so afraid of him and what he said? He was full of s*** and history has proved it. So why do you guys have so much faith in them taking over and none for the USA system of freedom? I give it a five for I guess it is and accurate quote and a thumbs down for the fact that he and his system was full of it. So I am stuck with a three.

Rarick was also a pro-segregationist (Member of the White Citizens Council)and a John Bircher. So what do you expect from a thinking man like this. (Note: paranoid folk who see trouble from anything or anyone that is different than them (like race, nationality, and cultural differences, as in "one world government") are well uh just paranoid folk.

And I thought it was just people who were connected to sewer line and used fluoride in their water or a term for anyones latest complaint.

Waffler, Smith

The difference between you and I Mike is that you forever have a disconnect between the term "We The People" and the governments (city, state, and national) that the people elelct. That my friend is what I mean when I call you childish, and Sir you are. Instead of respecting others and the governments they choose you are a would be dictator.

Jeffedrson said and it was recently quoted here that a nation should be able to have debt that it can at least pay off in 19 years, thus government should be able to have debt. It was quoted here and you misread it for your own evil reasons Archer. I think that makes you a liar. The Irtalian National Debt is 99% of their GDP and the Japanese debt is similarly high. I deplore the debt and the policies that put us there but the debt is now not as high as it was at the end of the Second World War. Let us pay it off be responsible and vote for tax hikes. Most people I know are doing very well but the government isn't. Our troops are dying but we live well. What kind of sick people have we become. We are all becoming models of Archer which is sick indeed.!

Mike I have spent to three week stints in a National Forest with just my dog. I spent my mornings walking and picking up the twenty year accumulation of beer cans left there by hunters. You are maybe the third person to know this. I received great gratification by doint that. I like many have taken time away from my own selfish interests to help others mostly anonymously and received satisfaction from that also. This quote can be taken many ways. If you have cheap pleasures of course you won't be spending but saving your money. I just returned from Mexico where I saw exteme poverty compared to the life that I live and I then visited New Orleans French Quarter where I spent $6 dollars for a beer in order to here great jazz. That was an expense pleasure but man was the music great. I cannot solve the Mexican poverty by myself. Mexican society needs to improve.

Fill out your forms, pay your taxes and move on and get a life! Nathan Hale was in my view not quite a government employee anymore than was Paul Revere, or Chris Attacus (if I have the name correct-you know that black guy that was killed in Boston). American patriotism is not about being a government employee. But with all those who are more than willing to beat the shit out of Uncle Sam anytime they can I am proud to come to his defenseim. At least against ignorance and stupidity! Every one should have an equal opportunity to die for Nathan Hales country, so let us reinstitute the draft and maybe we will then have less wars.

Growing up Mikey for most people is to learn that you live in a world of others. A lesson you obviously have never learned. Your list of things you hate can all be summed up in one word LAW. It is a value system judgement but some grow up to love law and wish to follow it. As Jesus said he came not to abolish law but to live by every word of the law and the prophets. Now that is being grown up! I repeat the jokesters and those that sell books about how to beat the law are making a killing off of childish people who listen to them and buy their books.

All pure capitalist should be cheering for this quote. If capitalism is about the acquisition, control and use of money (capital) then the bankers are your greatest heroes. Now sometimes a community or a nation may wish to have some control over their destinies also and the capitalist must be somehow brought up short and stopped. And some will call that socialism.

Waffler, Smith

Yes it is simple. But many and some on this site think it is some kind of conspiracy or something.

Paul I think you are reading your Jefferson piecemeal. He said no government is a real government if it does not have the power to borrow. He also said a government should not have debt that it cannot pay off in 19 years. So let us follow his advice and start paying it off. This means spending cuts and tax hikes. We have more billionaires than ever. Soemthing is wrong here.

Waffler, Smith

The last twenty years of repulican rule with a capital R paid little heed to this point of view. The economy went south and the debt went through the ceiling.

Waffler, Smith

Fiddling around is one thing but I love a symphony and I am willing to pay for it. Just paid a fortune or at least $6.00 a beer to hear classic jazz in New Orleans. You get what you pay for!

Waffler, Smith

You proved my point explicitly Archer, "Those who are jealous of power are those who have no knowledge" Your jealousy of Gore is breathtaking in its revelation of your jealousy and lack of knowledge.

Waffler, Smith

I only give it a two due to its' triteness. Will and many others make a fortune telling jokes or selling advice concerning the IRS. We waste so much time with this nonsense. Fill out your forms, pay your taxes and move on.
