Absolute truth. War is almost always caused or worsened by pacifists in high places. When two free countries disagree, communications and diplomacy is possible but when on one side of the dispute sits a tyrant only force will be understood. History has shown that diplomacy when dealing with a tyrant only will be preserved by him as weakness and only encourage him to take more of what he wants. Any agreement you make will not be honored by him and only make him stronger.

A quote from Abbie Hoffman is equivalent to a quote from Groucho Marks.

warren, olathe

Hey you guys Abbie Hoffman was a total spaced out freak. He never said anything serious in his life. Nothing he ever said could be taken to mean anything. He was rarely coherent, but always entertaining.

Fun quote from a brain fried on non stop drug use. Loved his books. Too bad he didn't use his incredible IQ for something more useful. Good example of what the sixties revolution was all about. Destruction of ones self and all social decency. I kind of miss it all though. At least we didn't know what we were doing. Can't say that any more.

Is this quote supposed to mean anything?

Another great communist quote. Nothing could be better to prevent the individual from being free that one world government. Anyone that thinks that the Humanist Manifesto is not the work of satin is an idiot. This is the vilest document ever written. It is pure love of state and hate for individual liberty.

This is a great quote. It tells you something about socialism. The individual has no importance what so ever. The state is all important and is to be worshiped. Jesus taught that the state was nothing. That the individual was all important in the eyes of God. So much so that he sacrificed his son for each one of us in spite of the fact that we are unworthy. That is in no way similar to that commie bastard that made this quote. Remember one thing about the left. Truth is what benefits the party. Fact has no worth unless it just coincidentally can be used to bolster the states "truth". Morals are to be decided by the state not by God. The state has become god. There is no tax to high because the state is the beneficiary. Corporations are evil because they have interests that benefit the individuals in the company and not the state. Individuals are worthless except for what the state wants to do with them. As any good commie will tell you "you are what you eat" is taught to their children as a way of saying you have no soul and you are only a pile of chemicals of no significant worth. Killing one or one million people is a moral act to a communist if he sees it as a benefit to the state. Our society has adapted much of this philosophy in the last century. Most young people are taught, and believe, that morality is a mater of personal choice. A recent poll revealed that about 75% think this way. Which any one that is capable of rational though would realize that if the each individual makes up his own version of what is moral there is in fact no longer any morals at all. This mindset is only possible with out God in the equation. This direction we are headed was laid out by Roger Baldwin, founder of the ACLU, in 1920. His goal for his organization was to bring the U S to communism by corrupting the legal system, destroying the family unit, and corrupting the moral fiber of this country. He has accomplished much and his organization is still hard at work to bring his dream to fruition. We even his people on the Supreme Court. When you succeed in destroying the individual's worth you can do anything you want with him. That is what our welfare system is for. That is why the reforms were opposed and the congress will soon, if not stopped, undo the reforms made in the mid 90's. With the current pool of politicians it is quite possible that major steps in the direction that Baldwin wants will soon be here. Government run health care, salary caps on private individuals, and 100%of the profits from certain corporations confiscated for the “public good”. All of the things in the last sentence have been proposed by one presidential candidate currently running for office. I don’t care how much you don’t like any corporation, what we allow to be done to it will soon be done to all. Pay attention it is going on here and now. If we don’t wake up we might as well have Vladimir for our next and permanent leader.

The founding fathers saw a militia as made of willing volunteers caring their own guns to the aid of the country when duty called. During the revolutionary war they were called minute men. Having an armed populace makes this type of emergency defense possible. Since there should be no need for the government of a free people to fear the people there could be no reason for disarming the populace. If the governed cannot be trusted not to threaten there neighbor with his gun then they have already thrown away their freedom on their own and no longer are worthy of freedom in general. Our form of government is only functional when the populace is moral and just. We love to complain about our government but we are the problem not the government. We allow a leftist/socialist/fascist press to tell us what to think and therefore decide who is elected for us. Good men don't step up because of what the press will do to them. When a few good men do get into office the press sooner or later figure it out and with the help of the Democrats in congress slander and harass them till they are gone. We don't have long left if we don't start to open our eyes. One ore two more elections going the way the mass media want and we will have legislation sending us down that slippery slope to no freedom of speech that contradicts what they say. It will no longer be "politically incorrect" it will be illegal.

Thomas believed that no tyrant would be tolerated by an armed population but he also knew that the armed population is a good last defence against an invading army. Durring the revelutionary war our army would grow on its way to battle because the locals would pick up thier guns and join in when they saw the troops go by. George Washington knew that much was owed to this type of patriot that supported the cause but for whatever reason didn't join the regular army.

9/11 would be considered an attack of a private army or militia.

Do we have a population worthy of the constitution is the proper question.

Mr. Maher is a hateful elitist but the quote is still excellent.

There has never been a tax cut in recent history that didn't cause an increase in revenue to the government. Deficit spending is the cause of our debt. The government is very liberal with other people’s money. Socialism is never the answer. Socialists never like tax cuts and always love tax increases because tax increases brings us closer to Socialism. (They are really Fascists if you look closely). Freedom of speech is not the last to go, it is the second after guns. No tyrant worth his salt will let the oppressed own guns or speak there minds.

The problem with the bill of rights is that it implies that the Government is limited by them. When the constitution was written it gave to government certain limited powers and every thing else to the states and individuals. The bill of rights allows one to interpret the constitution in such a way as to believe that the government can do any thing not specifically denied it. Of course by now the left would have found a way to interpret the constitution any way they wanted with out the bill of rights anyway. The originators of the constitution had quite a debate over this point. It was like telling you that you are free and then listing what you are allowed to do. Doesn't seem much like freedom then. If you are given a list of things you can't do you can come to the conclusion that any thing not on the list is ok. The latter is what the bill of rights does for the government. We over value the bill of rights. When the constitution is properly interpreted there was not any reason for them. The rights in them were already ours for the government to give us a list implies that those rights were the governments to give. The constitution clearly says they were ours already. The addition of a list of rights contradicts the rest of the document's spirit and intent.

Absolute fact. If you don't take the responsibility to govern your own actions with reason someone will soon do it for you and your freedom will be lost. That applies to ALL freedom. Speech included. (Of course Liberal speech is still absolute with no responsibilities required.)

Made great quotes. Not sure how he would be taken today. I wonder if he would be such a Libertarian if he saw what the world has become.

Mr. Anonymous got it right. U. S. congress did approve our presence in Iraq. We took no oil. Some one needs to wake up. This ati war crapp that I see on this site is depressing. I have always been a pacifist at heart but there are a few things worth fighting for and this cause is one of them. Any one that believes that the war against the terrorists in Iraq is not in our nations (as well as the Middle East’s) best interests has let their hatred for this country or George Bush blind their reason. I see people on this site that hate corporations so much that they appear to prefer a communist or fascist form of government over ours. We are a free people. The only way a free people can exist is in conjunction with a free enterprise system. When you go through life seeing a big bad corporation lurking behind every corner you open your self up to endorsing a kind of government that will be totalitarian in nature just to protect you from "evil" corporations. Hatred is the absence of reason. When you fill your self with hate you will soon accept anything or anyone that opposes the object of your hate. That is the tactic of the fascist left in this country. Inspire hate and you no longer have to deal with reason. Reason is something the left has never been able to handle. Until you realize that you are being manipulated by the left into a state of blind hatred you will not have the ability to reason. War is a horrible activity. War was brought to us. Unfortunately we ignored it for many years pretending we were not in a war. We were losing it and would have continued to loose it if we hadn't finally woke up on 9/11 and started dong something about it. This is probably the most important war we have ever fought. Our very existence is threatened and worst of all we have so many people that want to do an ostrich imitation. It seems that gone is the day of JFK and “Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.” Now it is apparent that liberty and freedom is not worth much too many of us at all. Ignore those that intend to put an end to our way of life and they will do just that.

Just go to almost any U S college and try to engage in free speech. You will find that you are only allowed liberal speech or you may find that witch burning still lives in the hearts of the American left.

You will find that war is hated the most by those who have seen the most of it. This kind of opinion is not uncommon among Generals. They do however rise to the task when their country calls. These quotes make for good anti war rhetoric but I doubt that they let you in on the whole of the men that are being quoted. These men are not the simpletons that these quotes would have you believe. There is nothing that happens in this world without someone somewhere finding a way to profit from it. It does not mean that every thing is done for that profit. The fact that someone does profit from a war in no way evidence that that war happened for profit to be made. The lack of cognitive thought in this area is astounding. I have always said that the average person is almost as intelligent as a box of rocks but sometimes I see evidence that the I Q of the box is moving up to above average.

So then The good General Butler would approve of our involvment in ww2 and war on terror.

What does self reliance have to do with solipsism? What would resistance to tyranny have to do with solipsism? Government is a nessassary evil. Never forget that.
