Bulwer-Lytton Quote “Personal liberty is the paramount essential to human dignity and human happiness.” ~ Edward G. Bulwer-Lytton [Edward George Earle Lytton Bulwer-Lytton] (1803-1873) 1st Baron Lytton PC, English politician, poet, playwright, and prolific novelist Dignity , Happiness , Liberty Ratings and Comments 1 Reply Mike, Norwalk 7/9/10 We hold this truth to be self evident. The society of collectivists and otherwise patrons of the statist theocracy, reveling in the sanctity of the system, compelled compliance, license, victimless crimes, larceny with impunity, funny money, government security blankets, etc. can't understand what true human dignity or human happiness are because they can't perceive personal liberty. 1 Reply Justin, Elkland 7/9/10 It's no great wonder that collectivists are low and miserable, even when they are in control. 1 Reply Ron, Salem 7/9/10 Personal liberty , ambassadorship to be a faithful servant, and steward of and for your creator. God Hath chosen the simple things of the world to confound the wise. 1 Reply jik k, Austin,Tx 7/9/10 Mike sums it up pretty well and It seems that the main job of government is to meddle in every phase of everyones life. Maybe it's because so many pests, nuisances, and control freaks go into govrnment work. Reply jim k, austin,Tx 7/9/10 Reply RBESRQ 7/9/10 Thank you - OK Mike, you should have heard my carnal scream... Most who end up in the corridors of power are psychopaths (and that has been proven). The more I disassociate myself with anything to do with religion the more liberty I experience. Personal liberty is the only liberty for without personal liberty how the hell can you fight for your fellow human beings. 1 Reply Anonymous 7/9/10 Fuck the government, I want my personal liberties back. 1 Reply E Archer, NYC 7/9/10 Good comments, Mike. RBE, it is the 21st century -- there is no compulsory religion to free yourself from -- it is all a choice to be in fellowship with others that share the same beliefs and approach to life. However, with statist, collectivist goverment, there is no end to what they claim as within their purview. Good intentions are fine until they are shoved down our throats with the threat of imprisonment and/or the seizing of all one's assets without trial or due process. The ruling class must terrorize the masses in order to get them to pay tribute - -same as it has ever been for thousands of years. The only thing that can stop them is the courage to say 'NO'! 1 Reply Justin, Elkland 7/9/10 E Archer, let us not forget that there are still plenty of totalitarian and collectivist governments with compulsory religions. Reply Ron, Salem 7/9/10 Archer is correct, and RBESRQ . The denominational religious system has a way to keep people in the dark. Our founding fathers through divine providence drafted the whole truth of liberty in our constitution. One nation under God with out respect of persons. You have your personal liberty but your wealth is another thing. You don't miss it till its gone. 1 Reply Ken, Allyn, WA 7/9/10 Sagacious, erudite, and prolix.
