Gardner Quote “Nothing can be more readily disproved than the old saw, "You can't keep a good man down." Most human societies have been beautifully organized to keep good men down.” ~ John W. Gardner (1912-2002) US Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare under President Lyndon Johnson, President of the Carnegie Corporation, founder Common Cause and Independent Sector Independence , Individualism , Repression , Society Ratings and Comments 3 Reply Mike, Norwalk 12/3/09 That is probably right considering the US was really the first major experiment to eliminate tyranny rule by the majority/minority, monarch, etc. And since such advent, government schools, tabloid media complex, etc. have followed suit to beautifully keep the good men down. 4 Reply Anon 12/3/09 Not only have most human societies been organized to keep good men down, they do it after they've taken what good the man has and twisted and used it to their benefit first, and of course to the detriment of everyone else. 23Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA, US 12/3/09 And in this case the rich white man is most likely to be the arm of society which performs this task, as the one kept down represents potential future competition to them... 3 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 12/3/09 Excellent Quote! Yep, the rich old men who own the banks and the political whores who live in their pockets are doing their very best to not only keep good men down, but to control everything we do. They do it by teaching us what to think and controlling our access to guns and medical care. They feed us poison by way of pharmaceuticals and devalue our currency whenever we start to actually save enough to retire. You're not supposed to retire, you're supposed to die.The state can't afford to keep you beyond your taxpaying years. As Krishnamurti said..."A profoundly sick society". 21Reply RBESRQ 12/3/09 And that is coming to an end. We need to end the way we are being governed - the people need to take back their sovereignty, their liberty, their life. We need to end this rampant escalation of corporate dominance and end our disastrous foreign policy. We need the blacklist Blackwater; we need to totally do away with ANY form of contributions to politicians either by lobbyists, corporations or individuals; we need to cut the military budget in half; we need to disband the CIA and the FR; we need to go back to voting on paper; we need to get out of other countries; we need to increase spending on education; we need Universal health care; we need to provide jobs for the unemployed like rebuilding Americas infrastructure; we need to get back to a manufacturing based economy; we need to stop religious tax exempt organizations who are politically active; and above all, we need leaders that are ethical and don't give %$@* about being threatened by our military and corporate America. 2 Reply Waffler, Smith 12/3/09 A self defeating statement. Tell this to Obama, Trump, Gates, Jobs, Buffet etcetera. I the best example of all Abe Lincoln. All you have to do is just keep getting up! 3 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 12/3/09 Waffler, with the possible exceptions of Gates, Trump and Jobs....none of those are "good" men. Certainly Obama and Lincoln fall in the category of "Statists" hellbent on destroying American Liberty, and that is completely UN American. 1 Reply Waffler, Smith 12/3/09 J I just came from Callaway Gardens near Columbus, Ga. this afternoon. A quote from one of its founders, about three generations of folk involved there. The quote said "it is amazing what impact a single person can make". I just thought it very approps to this discussion. 2 Reply Patrick Henry, Red Hill 10/24/17 More than lamentably, we are existing in a day of the utter inversion of value systems, a day in which evil is freely and unabashedly being called good, and good evil.As it is written:" Woe unto them call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter."~ Isaiah 5:20 1 Reply Ronw13, Oregon 10/24/17 A very misleading statement ! One would think Waffler would love the sentiment. John W. Gardner, chairman of the " Rockefellers Brothers Fund." Gardner being the founder of the "Common Cause" socialist group think, currently very active. Funded by George Soros, Open Society Institute. Apposing the COS Project, wanting to move to a "popular vote" system of Mob Rule. The Supreme Court struck down BCRA, McCain Feingold Act, wanting to block the release of the movie "Hillary" within 30 days of the 2008 Democratic Primaries. Rockefellers funding progressive leftist agendas, in league with Common Cause, making such racist statements in 2011 that Justice Clarence Thomas " should go back to the fields" and Roger Ailes " should be killed." Not to mention Justice Antonin Scalia's untimely death. Despite the odds the Good Men and Women are standing up ! President Trump at the helm surrounded by some of the Best leadership on planet earth. " God hath made man Upright, but one sinner destroyeth much good." such as BCRA attempting to push aside Free Speech of the "good man." People have a right to know ! not to shot the messenger one star. " Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions." Eccl 7:29 KJB. of course "they" being the Gardners and Wafflers of the world. 1 Reply E Archer, NYC 10/24/17 I can't tell if Gardner is for it or against it?
