Just finished the book, The Lost German Slave Girl: The Extraordinary True Story of Sally Miller and Her Fight for Freedom in Old New Orleans by John Bailey. I was astonished to find that the majority of free blacks were slave owners too. It's unfortunate that there is so much ignorance amongst the intelligentsia in this country that they were either unaware of this fact or choose not to reveal it.
