Dear Jim K Austin, I'm sure you know but in case you don't, 1984 is a novel by George Orwell. His other works, especially Animal Farm, Homage to Catalonia are 'must reads' for insights into the corruptive nature of power over the well meaning intentions of the politically minded and motivated.
