If we are responsible to and for ourselves, the world will be a much better place. People who feel the need to save (control) others are a useless lot with not enough to do.

No doubt about it. And saving our own soul may involve saving others', but moved by free will - what makes us good indeed, and depending upon affordability - what prevents us from sinking along.

Only Jesus can save souls. It is done through the Gospel. "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every person, he who believes and is baptized shall be saved, he who believes not shall be damned." (Mark 16: 15) The opinions of men are not superior to the Word of God. The Word of God is eternal. The lives (and opinions) of people (including Douglas) are temporary.

Jr. Chambers, you are absolutely correct in ultimately stating that "only Jesus can save souls", and "the opinions of men are not superior to the Word of God" - that is a simple observation of natural law vs. legal positivism, legal realism and/or any other form of carnal man's legalisms. Even though Douglas was a grand usurper of nature's endowed rights and progenitor of despotism, tyranny and general enslavement of the noble man, I think his reference here was framed totally within a corporeal domain of legalisms; i.e.: unless man asserts self energy to be free (I might add by the providence of God), despots such as Douglas will corporeally enslave you.

Putting religion aside for a moment, there does seem to be rooted in Western culture an assumed obligation to help others. Democracy itself is the political philosophy of those obligations. However, the corruption can be the same as with the authoritarian church: compelled service and tribute. Good intentions were the basis, but in the end, playing God becomes the norm.

My faith is that the only soul a man CAN save is his own. Although it only comes from Christ. But that being said, once that happens how can he not spread the good news?

Jr.Chambers, It's interesting that the Bible is referred to as "God's Word". What ever this term means is anyone's guess. If God wrote the Bible he apparently didn't know that the earth was round, not flat. Other inconsistencies abound throughout "God's Word".

Keep your powder dry along with your salvation, High dry ground around our tree of liberty. The denominational Christian religion at large drowns everybody in doubt and confusion. If it dunks, dips, wipes with a wet cloth, they drink milk and have no part with the meat of the Word of God rightly divided. That is the difference between socialistic indoctrination through Peter in Act 2:38, 3:19 vs I Corin 15:3,4. Eph 1:13, Colo 2:13, Tit 2:14. II Tim 2:15 rightly dividing the "word of truth" the gospel of your salvation, Eph 1:13. For Christ sent me not to baptise ! Apostle Paul who states to follow him 13 times. You will find the doctrines of liberty and Freedom contained in 13 books written by the 13th apostle. High dry ground, as with Israel crossing between the waters on Dry ground, as also Joshua and the priest crossing the river on High Dry Ground. Baptism is a work of righteousness of which we do not observe for any reason. " Not by works of righteousness which we have done but according to God's mercy he saves us. We are saved by grace through faith and that not of ourselves, it is the Gift of God not works lest any man should boast. ! We believe in putting Feet to our prayers if one wishes to save their own soul in this fleshly world from oppression from our fellow man. If Douglas thinks he can save his own soul, it must be in this life, for his works of good won't save Clawd the cat much less his immortal soul in the next life. There is a thread of truth in what he says pertaining to this life.
